Experience developing and implementing elementary math training modules for innovative, research-based math programs — now available to you and your teachers.
I was an elementary math teacher and administrator for 10 years. After that, I spent many years working with the authors at UCSMP to deliver standards-based math materials to millions of students. When it was first published and adopted in the early 2000s, specifically in the New England states, Everyday Mathematics was the most widely adopted and successful program at the time. Now that acceptance has shifted to another problem-based curriculum, IM K–5 Math.
I have been an IM Certified Facilitator since 2019. Much of my independent work has focused on districts using IM® K–5 Math. Curricula built on a problem-based learning foundation have distinct, intentional elements that require specific shifts in teachers' practices. Such shifts take time and sustained focus. I'm experienced, knowledgeable, and prepared to provide the services needed to maintain that focus and meet your district's goals… long term.
What about the teachers who missed your district’s initial implementation training?
New hires, transfers, paraprofessionals, and other educators who join a district after its initial rollout need and deserve an opportunity to experience what IM looks and sounds like in the classroom. This one-day, interactive, hands-on workshop offers a practical introduction to the essentials of problem-based teaching before the new school year begins. The same agenda is offered in two locations — Cape Cod Community College on Tuesday, August 25, and the University of New England on Thursday, August 27. For details, click the link below.
